I believe the magical realism used in both LWFC and Old man is great. But if I were to choose between the two, LWFC would be my choice. The magical realism used is more understandable and comprehensible. Old Man and LWFC's diction differ greatly. Sentences in Old Man are longer and more detailed to a certain degree. I do find that both authors use a great amount of sensory details creating vivid images for their readers. I believe that LWFC's details are written with informal dialect and Old Man's details are written in formal language. Each stories diction is concrete and concise and neither authors use abstract words.
Esquivel's use of imagery details inLWFC were truly displayed when she told the stories of the chickens and hens fighting spraying blood over Tita and the diapers. Gabriel's use of imagery details were displayed when he described the old feathered man in the chicken coupe. The details of each story are great and help to actually visualize what the characters look like and what they are doing. I beileve the lesson in LWFC is conveyed more clearly and concise thant the lesson in Old man. If you think about it Old Man is just a spectacle and LWFC is a story that could actually happen
